5 Ways to Have a Memorable Christmas Christmas is a festival that represents family and the birth of Jesus Christ. In recent times, whether you are religious or not this special event has become more of an international institution with many citizens of countries getting time off work to celebrate and spend time with their family and friends. Obviously, people do still have to work so here are five top tips to make this Christmas a memorable one, for those who will be, as well as for those who won’t be working: 1. Buy snacks – Christmas wouldn’t be right without fatty junk food, so take a trip to your local supermarket on Xmas Eve and enjoy the pushing, the pulling and the queues to get your favourite snack food, this will certainly set the tone for having a memorable Christmas! 2. If you are able to organise some games to play, do so particularly if you have friends, family or colleagues around you. Charades, Twister, pin the hat on the Santa for example; this is after all a time for having fun. 3. Don’t waste your pennies on gifts you know the receiver won’t like or enjoy, but instead will end up at the back of a cupboard only to end up at the tip when they next have a clear out. You don’t have to spend a fortune on gifts, buy or make something thoughtful, get a present that you know the gift recipient will like and therefore keep or use straightaway, perhaps a home made card, personalised wine or a keepsake? 4. If you’re the chef (or you are at work) prepare the Xmas dinner well in advance, you can easily cook and freezer the meat (put some home made gravy over it to keep it nice and moist), the potatoes, the carrots and so on, to allow you to spend time with the family, or watching mindless Christmas television instead of slaving away in the kitchen. 5. Chill out! Don’t get stressed out on the minute details, such as the Christmas crackers, or “my house is a mess”, I can’t possibly have people come around! Christmas is a festive period for joy and happiness and traditionally a time to spend with family and friends, don’t let the stress spoil your time off (or time on!), play games, eat food, give gifts you know the recipient will love and prepare in advance so you can generally just be merry! .(2009-10-23 09:58:47) |
